CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - In a harrowing incident that has both medical professionals and binge-watchers baffled, local man Terry McMillan, 32, has become physically incapable of standing up after watching the entire season of Netflix's hottest new show, "Couch Potatriarchy," in a single sitting.
McMillan, an avid binge-watcher, sat down on his beloved recliner last Friday night with the intention of consuming just one episode of the critically-acclaimed series. However, 13 hours and 26 episodes later, he discovered that he had become one with his recliner, unable to separate himself from the cozy, fabric-covered embrace of the chair.
"I just couldn't stop watching. The plot twists, the drama, the subtle product placements for name-brand snack foods – it was all so mesmerizing," McMillan said, his speech slurred due to a severe case of couch lock. Upon discovering his predicament, McMillan immediately called for help, prompting his roommate to enter the living room, stare at him for a moment, and then offer him a bag of chips before retreating back to his room.
